Snow Adventure

So I thought I'd make my way down to the Valley this past weekend to visit my Mother. Thank goodness I had a friend with me because we went through an adventure I would never want to go through alone. The day we left it was said that there was a 100% chance of HEAVY SNOW on the grape vine. Having never driven through snow before I had no choice, but go a different route. Instead on simply going on the 5 through the G.V. we had to take the 58 through Bakersfield to MOJAVE where we had to catch the 14.

But that wasn't just it. Wouldn't you know it that in order to divert snow...we had to GO through snow. Wow. I was SOO not ready for that. And not only did we drive through the snow, but we were also forced off the road by a big rig. phew.. sigh..

Once we got back on the road we both prayed hoping for a safe trip. I made a compromise with The Big Guy. I told him that I would stop complaining about the long route if he helped us get home samely. Happy to say I kept my word and he followed through. High Five to the Big Guy!

Thankfully it was a nice sunny weekend, which was a much needed relief from the wetness of the North (still wet and raining as I sit here typing). And it remaind dry for the drive home.

Here is a pic of the snow that we had to steer clear of, but at a more tame mood. Families were there sledding, making snowmen, and having snow ball fights. So pretty, but hope I have to never take that long route again.

Stay warm all in this weather!!

  1. Eventually everyone has to learn how to drive in the snow. I hate it.

    Glad you got through safely.
